The Network is co-ordinated by IST, has nine principal contractors (IST, EQE, DAP, ETHZ, RCP, BUW, PAFA, NTNU, WSA), and a total of 44 active members from 11 European countries, with a combination of 25 industrial partners, 10 Universities, 8 Research Organisations and 1 Other. They involve several large organisations, but also 7 SME’s. Therefore, it is clear that the complementarity of industry-research-services is ensured in the Network.

Its members are involved in several research projects funded at Community and National levels, as well as in several international technical and standardisation organisations. Therefore, the network will contribute to the co-ordination of the research projects and will ensure the contribution to international organisations and standardisation activities.

Several industries are reflected in the areas of activity of the members: Oil and Gas Sector, Maritime Transportation, Motorways, Bridge, Railway, Building Construction, Process and Energy. The Network will assess the importance and maturity of the technologies being developed and will contribute to technology transfers among these sectors.

This Network is particularly well placed to link the existing international organisations so as to review and synthesise the state of the art, and to provide views about the present and future needs of research and development activities.
