About ASDEPP

The primary specific objective of the project is to provide support for development and implementation of set of optional courses on Advanced Ship Design for Pollution Prevention (ASDEPP) to be held at studies of naval architecture at the University of Zagreb, Croatia and at University of Rijeka, Croatia by international lecturers from IST in Portugal, BV in France and TKK in Finland.

The courses, which represent state of the art of the research in the respective disciplines, will be equally offered to foreign graduated students, with recognition of ECTS points in their institutions, then to Croatian and foreign PhD students of naval architecture and ocean engineering as well as to naval architects and ocean engineers from Croatian shipyards and design offices. The courses will be opened also to students of other engineering specialities as many of subjects covered in courses are interdisciplinary.

The ASDEPP program will be developed in way to fit in the existing curricula of graduate studies (to achieve academic title Master of Naval Architecture (MNA)) at FAMENA,University of Zagreb and at FE, University of Rijeka. The lecturers from EU countries are leading experts and authorities in the fields of environmental modelling and environmental loading of ships and marine structures, ship structural safety and reliability, fatigue analysis, analysis of collision and grounding and stability of damaged ships. It is important to emphasize that courses will include results of recent researches conducted within various joint European projects and in that way making them attractive for all European studies of naval architecture and ocean engineering.

The project will contribute to the raise of awareness to environmental protection problems of all important factors concerned by ship safety and will provide additional education of experts in Croatia about assessing of safety of oil tankers in traffic in Adriatic Sea and Mediterranean Sea.
