CAPTAR – Learn to prevent

CAPTAR – “Learn to prevent” is a scientific research project fully dedicated to accidents at work. In Portuguese, the acronym stands for: Coding, Analysis and Prevention of Accidents at Work.

The project aims at establishing strategies and processes to learn efficiently with accidents. The study covers all facets, ranging from the collection and coding of accident data to the implementation of safety improvements, as a result of organisational learning.

Our research team is multidisciplinary; it gathers members of several institutions (ISCTE-IUL, IST-UTL, FCT-UNL) with different scientific backgrounds. The expected output of this project will be a series of (simple but practical) guidance on good practices, ranging from registering reliable information, conducting interviews, investigating accidents, setting up accident & safety performance indicators, setting up appropriate feedback channels for organisational learning, etc.

Welcome to the CAPTAR Web Site!
