Objectives
The main objective of this project is to develop a decision support system capable of providing guidance on the most appropriate actions to be taken when a fishing vessel is operating in bad weather conditions. These conditions include large beam waves, following to stern quartering seas, breaking waves, but also extreme forced developed during by the fishing operations such as forces due to the fishing gear and water-on-deck.
This is based on research to further develop existing stability and hydrodynamic codes to be able to take into account the effects of the fishing gear and water on deck on the vessel on the vessel stability and dynamics.
It is also an objective of the project to develop the software to process the data from a system that a monitors in real time the necessary parameters for the stability and hydrodynamic analysis of the vessel behavior. This constitutes a pre-condition for the decision support system to be able to issue relevant guidance for the vessel's master.
