This task will provide both new modelling procedures and comparative laboratory data concerning the wave field scattered from a typical FPSO. In particular, the laboratory data will consider the interaction with steep individual waves and isolated wave groups, and will ascertain to what extent these important interactions can be modelled using either the existing or the proposed models.

The practical implications of these interactions in terms of green water on the deck and the occurrence of wave slamming will also be addressed. The results will be used to formulate new design solutions.
