Noble Denton is the longest established independent marine engineering consultancy operating in the offshore industry. It currently has a worldwide technical staff of about 150 people. Noble Denton Europe Ltd. which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Noble Denton Holdings Ltd.. Noble Denton Holdings Ltd. is registered in the UK as is Noble Denton Europe Ltd.

With the advent of the North Sea oil industry Noble Denton has grown to become the acknowledged leaders in the design, analysis and verification of mooring systems for all types of floating structures. This position has been reached not only by participation in some of the most challenging offshore projects but also by initiation and management of numerous mooring related Joint Industry Projects (JIPs). Since 1979 the company has managed over 30 JIPs. Recent JIPs with Noble Denton management and/or technical contribution are: Integration of Mooring and Riser Design; Response Based Design Criteria for FPSOs; Development of an Engineers Design Guide for Fibre Ropes.

Noble Denton_s pre-eminence in mooring system design is confirmed by its pivotal role in numerous industry firsts and by its contribution to the 'Mooring Systems' chapter of the recently published book, 'Floating Structures: a guide for design and analysis' (Ed. Barltrop). Furthermore, it is currently involved in feasibility studies for major oil companies to determine mooring system solutions for ultra deep waters in excess of 1000m.

Noble Denton has been extensively involved as consultants to oil companies, design contractors and field development contractors in all aspects of marine and naval architecture of floating productions systems. Such involvement has provided a unique vantage point to identify challenges that are faced in designing floating offshore structures. This experience is brought to bear within this project proposal to identify the key issues and to provide practical implementation of theoretical developments. As consultants, Noble Denton possesses many state-of-the-art analysis tools both developed in-house and purchased from external sources.
