LISNAVE Estaleiros Navais S.A. one of the world's leading repair yards, is involved in the ship repair and conversion business of ships and offshore structures. The company has 1300 employees and operates two shipyards: Margueira shipyard in the river Tagus estuary, with four dry-docks from 100,000 up to 1,000,000 dwt and Mitrena shipyard located in the river Sado estuary, with three dry-docks from 300,000 up to 700,000 dwt.

LISNAVE has the facilities to design and build all sizes of metallic structures and is certified ISO 9001. In the last years an important marketing strategy of LISNAVE has been conversions of ships into offshore platforms. Recent activities have been conversions for Petrobras and for Falcon Drilling and a major repair in a FPSO for ELF.

Actually LISNAVE is moving from a centralized main frame system to a client-server model, using Windows user interface and Informix databases under Unix. LISNAVE has access to several programmes on workstations.

LISNAVE has been an active participant in several European RTD projects like REPAY, FatHTS, MOYSYS and OCTOPUS (BRITE/EURAM) and DECOR, MARVIN and FLUENT (ESPRIT).
